While I was in Corpus Christi over the Memorial Day weekend, checking out EarthLink's Wi-Fi network, I was pleased to see that access was being offered free for a limited amount of time.
Once EarthLink took over after buying the network from the city of Corpus Christi, it offered a 30 day period in which it didn't charge for access. The network had been free to residents before acquisition, as well.
The free ride ended on May 31, but the Corpus scenario raises a question -- will Houston's citywide Wi-Fi network, built and operated by EarthLink, also have a free period?

Will Houston get a free Wi-Fi trial period, and for how long?
