Is Advertlets another Scam ?

I was surprised earlier after I had posted my post about YouTube Video Downloads on one of my blogs, when it was automatically redirected to another site, the landing page looks like a scam.

I was really surprised and thought that my site was hacked, but upon checking the URL of the site where my blog is redirected, part of which contains the following code:

It made me realized that it is my advertlets ads that is causing the unexpected redirection. I then immediately removed the code that was related to advertlets and my blogs are now back to normal.

Upon checking the advertlets site (www.advertlets.com), I was surprise to see that advertlets’ domain is already expired since January 03, 2008.

I’m just wondering, what happened to Advertlets? hacked? or Advertlets is another scam? If their domain is really expired, that would even made the ’scam’ suspicion stronger, since as a blogger and owner of several domains, the expiration of each domain I maintain is one of the things that I will never overlook.

Simply click the verification link from your Blog post (created by Google alert) and you should be all set to receive the alerts on a defined interval. You can delete the verification posts, just to avoid confusion to your readers. From then onwards you should be all set to receive automated posts using Google alerts. I have used this technique on experimental basis on my blog here, and have added all monetization techniques - AdBrite, AdSense, Kontera, Ads-Click to this Blog to make more money from the FREE posts.

Hack: FREE GPRS from Airtel Mobile

A little hack found on the forums on about how to access the net from a pc using a mobile with Airtel prepaid card. Enjoy!
Raw Materials: PC/Laptop and necessary connectivity tools ,ie.,
Serial/USB cable OR Infrared Device OR Bluetooth dongle to connect the mobile to the computer.

1) Activate Airtel Live! ( It’s FREE so no probs)

2)Create TWO Airtel GPRS data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.

3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile’s modem.

4) Create a new dial-up connection using the NEW CONNECTION
WIZARD as follows

Connecting Device : Your mobile’s modem
ISP Name : Airtel (or anything you like)
Phone Number : *99***2#
Username and Password : blank

5) Configure your browser and download manager to use the proxy
100.1.200.99 and port 8080.( My advice is to use Opera since you
can browse both wap and regular websites)

6) Connect to the dial-up account. You will be connected at 115.2
kbps (but remember, that is a bad joke).

7) Pick up your mobile and try to access any site. You will get “Access
Denied…”(except for Airtel Live!). IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Keep the mobile down.

8 ) On the PC ( or Laptop) open your browser, enter any address ,
press ENTER and…….WAIT

9) After a few seconds the page will start to load and you have the
WHOLE internet at your disposal.

10) Thank the one who gave you this hack!

2008: Blogging goals to make money

Ghostrider30 is a new blog, and I am a new blogger. This whole world is a new learning experience for me, like kindergarten in school. And just like any student, a blogger must set his/her goals.

Here are some goals for myself and my blog, Personal Finance Management and Planning, for the year 2008.

1. Transfer to a new host and set up Wordpress
2. Create my own banner by the end of February
3. Create my own template by the end of 2008
4. Obtain 1000 RSS subscribers within the next 6 months
5. Achieve top #1 position in at least 10 blogger directories
6. Keep those subscribers for the rest of the year
7. Acquire 10000 page views a week
8. By Dec 2008, make $1000 a day from sponsored posts/affiliates/programs
9. Receive one trackback link per blog entry written
10. Reach 1000 posts in next 3 months
11. Enter the Alexa Top 10,000
12. Get very involved in social networking sites
13. Reach in the Technorati Top 1000 Blogs list
14. Create a major link bait and get featured on all social bookmarking sites
15. Start a program to get guest bloggers write for my blog.
16. Visit more blogs and learn best practices from them.

I feel these goals are all very obtainable by the end of 2008. To reach these goals, I will strive to reach the user-base out there. More info will be published, and it will be information that will help you to be successful. I will put homework on hold and put the blog first if it comes down to it. These goals are something I want… something I really, really want. And if you are setting goals, you should really, really want it as well.

If these goals are all met, I will expand upon them, making them larger and harder on myself, but that is what I want.
