Save Money On Gas Like This

One way to ensure you spend less money on gas is to buy less gas. Newer cars are supposedly more fuel efficient, but that doesn't mean your older car can't become more fuel efficient.

Have you changed your fuel filter recently? I know I'm over due to change mine (I have never changed it in all 80,000 miles I've put on my car) and I'm certain my fuel economy will rise once I change it. For example, I used to get 300-350 miles per tank of gas. These days, I get 250-300. My driving style hasn't changed much, and I keep the oil changed regularly.

Stay tuned for the results of this as soon as I get it done! My guess is a new fuel filter will lead to better fuel economy which means I can drive the same distance, but will need to buy less gas to do it.

Get Money If Air Ticket Price Changes

Yapta is a new service that tracks the price of your already purchased airline tickets. There's an unpublicized rule with the airline carriers that says if your existing ticket can be bought for a lower price, you are entitled to money back. Yapta will monitor your airline reservations through services like Expedia or Travelocity and then notify you if it finds the reservation price has dropped. It's then up to you to contact the airlines.

Track Local Gas Prices With iGoogle

Google is a personalized Google homepage to monitor news, information, RSS feeds, and more. Add the Local Gas Prices gadget to quickly see an overview of gas prices in your zip code. I had the gadget added and tested-out in under a minute and it's definitely worth a try.

To use iGoogle, you can use an existing GMail account or create a new iGoogle account.

Young Pros! Check-out LinkedIn

For those of you young professionals trying to network, check-out LinkedIn. It's a great place to find associates from old jobs, and perhaps new associates in new jobs. Think of it like a myspace or facebook for the professional world.

I joined LinkedIn a couple years ago, but didn't start building my network until last year. It's a good way to find people from high school, college, and old jobs who are skilled and are great connections. Perhaps you work somewhere who needs people, or you're a skilled professional looking for a new position. LinkedIn has places to search for jobs being offered by people in your extended network and also gives people a way to give and receive personal recommendations. This is a great way to keep building your personal and professional network.

LinkedIn is also accessible on the iPhone.

NASDAQ quotes go real-time on Google Finance

Google has partnered with NASDAQ for the pilot program in order to offer users free access to real-time stock quotes.

It's important to have up-to-date market data. It's equally important that that data stay up to date. Consequently, enabling the streaming of quotes across Google Finance is a great feature. Prices will update automatically, once per second, to reflect current market conditions.

I believe providing real-time stock quotes is an important step to allow investors to make more timely and better informed investment decisions. From Wall Street to Main Street, everyone deserves equal access to the financial markets.

Free Online MP3 Player

Have you ever tried to put on a MP3 player on your website? Or do you plan to put one? I had been doing a project for one client where he needed me to put on a MP3 player on his website for his users to listen to the songs they upload to their private profile.

I checked out many flash MP3 players but most of them were lacking some features and some had more features then I needed for making it simple yet working and appealing for users.

Then I found the Free Flash MP3 Player at e-phonic.com

It was free for use and even the registered version was available for a small fee.

Some of the features were like loading a playlist as well as a single file for playing in the player, Visualization effects, Skinnable player using XML skins and could be controlled by Javascript too.

Comes with 4 nice skins and examples on how to integrate it and for more help there is always an online documentation.

Would you Dragon or God Speed your blogging speed ?

Today I will share with you the trick that I learned on how to God Speed your blogging speed.

Here is another great video review by Lisa, who coincidently writes the blog Lisa Reviews. She writes about how she can write at 150 words per minute with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

I think one of the key takeaways from her video, the key insight that is, is that she is able to write a lot more in those spare moments of time that she has while she's doing other things. Sometimes it's great to multitask, but it's even more important to be able to accomplish useful goals in those spare two or three or four minute pockets of time that we all experience throughout the day.

With Dragon NaturallySpeaking a four minute pocket of time can translate into 600 words! That could be three or four e-mails or one or two long blog articles if you're a blogger like Lisa.
Slick

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard

For just $99 you can get started with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and have it trained in running in about seven minutes. The software with version 10 is simply amazing.

I have been writing about Dragon NaturallySpeaking for almost 2 years now. I have been able to type at 150 words per minute for $99 with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That speed was clocked while I was taking a typing test, but even in practical situations when I factor in not only the time it takes to type, but the time that it also takes to edit the words I typed, the end result is that I can still achieve about 100 words a minute, INCLUDING editing time! J

That is extremely fast, and the inclusion of editing time, speaks to the advances that you can see in version 10 as compared to older versions such as version 8 or version 9. It's a lot easier to edit on the fly with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.

So if you're looking for a practical tool for your home office, for your writing or blog work, or even just to keep up with e-mail in your spare time, Dragon NaturallySpeaking can give you the power to write at 150 words a minute for a price that starts at $99. Heck, I think I paid that much almost for my last keyboard so that I wouldn't pound my fingers to death. :-)

Sincerely,
Brett Bumeter

PS this article includes about 376 words that I wrote with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10. It took me about 3 1/2 minutes to write and edit this article, which is just a little bit better than 100 words per minute and that includes editing time.
