GoogleSense tells me that Android is an iPhone clone

GoogleSense- A great combination of the words "Google" and "Adsense", but is Google's answer to the iPhone a little too close to the iPhone? It definitely shares a lot with the iPhone including "Glass and chrome, a touch screen, a Webkit based browser, multiple desktops switched by sliding a finger across the screen and a four-icon dock for favorites."

Google showed off the latest prototype of Android, its mobile phone platform. The last time I saw anything about Android, the hardware definitely looked just out of the lab. At CES earlier this year, Vincent Nguyen at Android Community said that the search giant asked people to "keep an open mind and instead concentrate on the OS' potential". Vincent says that the new prototype could easily be mistaken for a production model. Here's one of the videos Vincent captured at the demostration:

Google Analytics to provide smart referral tracking for AdSense Ads

If you are using Google AdSense on your website, here’s some very good news. You will soon be able to track visitor clicks on your AdSense ads using Google Analytics reports. These new reports in Analytics have enough details to help you exactly measure AdSense performance on every single page of your website.

1. The number of times AdSense ads were clicked on any given web page.

2. AdSense revenue generated per page for clicks mentioned in #1.

3. You’ll also know the CTR and CPM for all web pages - no need to create individual URL channels in your AdSense dashboard.

4. "Top AdSense Referrers" - this is the most interesting report as it helps you know about revenue made per referring websites.

Let’s take an example. Assume two sites - digg.com and cnn.com - have linked to a page on your website and are sending some referral traffic. Now Analytics will tell you exactly how much AdSense revenue you are making through traffic from each of these sites.

This report has enormous potential as it lends a "measurable" value to each incoming link. Some sites could even use this as a replacement for affiliate programs.

Warning about Sim-unlocks for iPhone 3Gs

There is no such thing as a FREE iPhone and people looking to unlock their iPhone 3Gs should avoid the hardware-based SIMable option, according to a member of the iPhone Dev Team. The coder notes that the modern 3G baseband chip has been designed around SIM-based hardware hacks, and so any attempt at them must use fake identifiers. This information is said to “leak” into cellular networks, generating errors.

While a hack could in theory work under this scheme, the errors are recorded by telecom companies, and may be considered tampering in a company’s network. In countries like Germany, as a result, a person could allegedly face up to three years in prison, and in the US, it may fall under legislation designed to combat terrorism.

There is little alternative at present however, as utlities like PwnageTool are only able to jailbreak an iPhone 3G, not unlock it for use on unauthorized carriers…yet
